Relationship Problems

Relationship Problems

Communication problems, misunderstandings, and conflicts are natural in relationships. Whether you’re navigating communication issues, cultural and religious differences, financial struggles, or feeling disconnected emotionally and intimately, maintaining a relationship requires dedication and ongoing effort. However, sometimes, relationship problems are too big for you and your partner(s) to handle on your own.

Don’t wait too long to seek marriage counseling if your relationship is not where it should be. At Behr Psychology, we understand that relationships can be complex and challenging. Our team is committed to working alongside you and your partner(s) to develop effective solutions tailored to your unique circumstances.

Couples Therapy

Each developmental stage of a relationship brings unique challenges, whether getting to know each other, welcoming a new baby, dealing with work-life balance, illnesses, emotional distance, sexual concerns, or finances. Relationships can benefit significantly from relationship counseling, regardless of the stage of the relationship. Our approach is designed to improve communication, enhance understanding and empathy, align shared values, and effectively resolve conflicts. We offer both marital and premarital therapy, recognizing that it’s never too early or too late to begin this journey. Couples therapy provides a safe space to grow closer, resolve conflicts, and strengthen bonds.

Individual Therapy

At Behr Psychology, we believe a deeper understanding of oneself is crucial for improving relationships. Our individual therapy sessions focus on exploring your personal history, recurring behavioral patterns, and experiences within relationship dynamics. This process helps build clearer insight into your relationship goals and strategies, enhance your communication skills, and foster healthier interactions with your partner(s).

Who do we work with?

At Behr Psychology, we embrace diversity in all relationship forms and styles. We provide specialized therapy services to religious couples, individuals in non-monogamous or polyamorous relationships, those in non-traditional relationships, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our goal is to ensure that every individual and couple feels supported and understood.

Fact: Therapy can be a fantastic tool to strengthen and improve relationships before problems become unmanageable.

Myth: Relationship counseling can solve our problems in one or two sessions.

Fact: This is not how counseling works in real life. No matter how trivial relationship issues seem, there is no quick fix. Psychotherapy takes many sessions to get to the root of a problem and heal.

Myth: A healthy relationship means you never argue.

Fact: Healthy relationships often include disagreements; what matters is how you repair after the argument and manage and resolve conflicts.

Myth: No relationship can recover after infidelity.

Fact: Many relationships heal from infidelity, despite the emotional distress it causes. Counseling, commitment to rebuilding trust, and open communication can help couples heal from infidelity and become stronger.
