Shelby Keyworth, LCSW

Licensed Therapist

Whether you are just beginning or continuing on your therapeutic journey, I aims to create an environment of acceptance, safety, and empathy. I will encourage you to be your authentic self while helping to guide you through difficult life circumstances. I believe you’re the expert about your life and will partner with you in a holistic process where you’ll explore all of the areas of your life that may be impacting your mental health. Together we will work toward reaching your goals and living in healthy, fulfilling ways.

I often uses a person-centered approach with my clients, which includes active listening and mindfulness techniques. I also utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and strength-based therapies in my sessions. I strive to lead my sessions with a trauma informed lens and values the importance of practicing from a culturally competent and social justice clinical framework.

Training and Education

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Michigan State University with a minor in Sociology and my Master’s in Social Work from Grand Valley State University. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and orientations who’ve experienced severe traumas, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship and familial struggles and more.

I have also worked in various settings including outpatient, residential treatment, and day treatment programs. I moved from Michigan to Colorado in 2017 and love to hike and spend time with my family, friends, and two rescue dogs.
