Kimrey Holmes, Psy.D.

Licensed Psychologist

As a clinical psychologist specializing in psychological evaluations, my primary goal is to create a space where you can deepen your understanding of yourself. I recognize that the assessment process can sometimes feel overwhelming or uncertain, and I work to ease those feelings, and leave you with greater clarity and a sense of empowerment.

My approach to assessment is collaborative and affirming, grounded in client-centered care. I honor the uniqueness of each individual’s experiences and perspective. Throughout the process, I actively listen to your concerns and work alongside you to better understand your needs, goals, and the personal and cultural contexts that shape your experience.

Once we’ve developed a shared understanding, I integrate reliable, valid measures to provide a comprehensive picture of your cognitive, academic, socioemotional, and personality functioning. I believe that an effective assessment should strike a balance between highlighting strengths and identifying areas for growth. This balance allows us to create personalized, actionable recommendations that can support you across various areas of your life.

With experience in both school and clinical settings, I have a unique understanding of the complexities of these environments and how an individual’s needs and goals may shift in different settings. I strive to integrate this knowledge and be an advocate for each individual I assess with a primary goal of enhancing your overall well-being.

Training and Education

I am originally from Atlanta, GA and obtained a B.S. in Psychology from Clemson University in South Carolina before moving to NYC to continue my education at Teachers College, Columbia University. At TC, I obtained an M.A. in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Children and Families and began developing my passion for working with children and, particularly underserved, trauma-exposed youth and their caregivers.

To cultivate this passion, I decided to pursue a doctorate degree at Pace University where I obtained an M.S.Ed in School Psychology and a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. Throughout my training, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan in various settings including: elementary schools, outpatient clinics, day treatment programs, foster care agencies, and residential treatment facilities.

Currently, I am a Licensed Psychologist in New York and work in both outpatient and school settings. This work allows me to see the complex intersection of these systems and support individuals in various domains of their lives.
