What is Group Therapy?

Group therapy provides you with the opportunity to work on specific psychological topics with others who have had similar experiences or similar treatment goals. The group leader will help you and the other group members to grow comfortable being vulnerable and open in the context of the group. Group therapy can be a great adjunct to individual therapy. The dynamics of a group therapy session allow for different kinds of growth through communication, honest feedback, and processing of previous social and familial dynamics. In addition, groups can be a place where you tackle certain types of difficulties or learn specific types of therapeutic skills.

Who do we treat?

We run groups for adults and adolescents on various topics including but not limited to: Loss and Bereavement, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy Skills (DBT), PTSD and Trauma, Process Groups, Singles Groups, and more.  Return to this page for more information on our current groups.

What to expect?

We will conduct initial interviews to determine the goodness of fit of the group for your needs. Our group leader will meet with you and if the group is right for you, you will be invited to attend. Groups are generally closed, meaning that group members agree to attend all group meetings. Groups typically run for about 8-12 weeks depending on the topic.
