Meet Our Therapists
Audrey Adams, LMSW
There are many reasons why we choose to start therapy. Whether it be to work on our relationships, our work or our self, the journey to untangle life’s complexities and discover our healing process is already within you. As a therapist, I believe all humans have innate strength and
resilience to create the change they are seeking.
My approach to therapy is gentle, supportive and affirming. I use a trauma-informed and person-centered approach to help clients better understand how life experiences shape their present experiences with the goal of building greater awareness and agency.
Mental health is inseparably linked to social contexts, including power, privilege and oppression. As a therapist I am attentive to how these dynamics appear within and outside the therapeutic relationships. Through this critical exploration of self and environment, we discover personal strengths, well-working behaviors, and identify treatment goals.
Through our authentic relationship I aim to facilitate healing and growth.
Training and Education
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York State. I use various modalities in my practice based on a person’s individual preference or need. Some modalities I incorporate are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Relational theory, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing and mindfulness. I work with adults, adolescents and children.
I completed my graduate training at Columbia University, where I earned my LMSW. Throughout the course of my career, I have worked in community based mental health clinics, day treatment centers, and school-based health centers. I am currently earning clinical hours towards my LCSW.
