Rachel Johnson, Psy.D.

Psychologist, Post-Doctoral Fellow

Life’s challenges can be complex, and navigating them often requires a thoughtful blend of support and insight. In my work as a psychologist, I am dedicated to creating a safe, collaborative space for clients to explore their needs, whether in therapeutic or assessment contexts. My role includes conducting comprehensive evaluations and providing therapy that supports cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioral development for children, adolescents, and adults.

With experience in both school and clinical settings, I approach each assessment and therapy session with a commitment to understanding the unique factors shaping a client’s experiences. I strive to ensure that clients feel seen and understood throughout the process, believing that assessment and therapy are most effective when they empower clients, families, and educators with the knowledge needed to plan for growth and change.

In therapy, I take a holistic, client-centered approach, focusing on self-compassion, resilience, and strengths-based growth. By integrating cognitive-behavioral, relational, and skills-based methods, I tailor interventions to support each individual’s journey toward well-being. My aim is to foster an open environment where clients can build on their strengths and achieve their potential.

For assessments, my priority is to provide a thorough, individualized evaluation that clarifies cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. I emphasize clear communication of test results, ensuring that clients and their support networks have a comprehensive understanding of the findings. This clarity is key to effective intervention planning, creating pathways for meaningful support in school, work, and personal life.

Training and Education

I was born and raised in New York, earning my master’s in School Psychology from Queens College in 2016. I began my career working within school systems for eight years, gaining in-depth experience supporting students’ academic, emotional, and behavioral growth. I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical and School Psychology from Pace University in 2024, which has broadened my expertise across various settings, including schools, clinics, and other community-based environments. My training emphasizes patient-centered and trauma-informed practices, integrating approaches from relational, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and humanistic techniques.

In my work with children, adolescents, and adults, I am dedicated to fostering positive, reparative relationships that support clients through significant life transitions. I aim to provide a therapeutic environment where individuals can experience trust, connection, and a deep sense of understanding. My goal is to empower clients in their journey toward resilience and personal growth, creating a compassionate space that honors each person’s unique experiences and strengths.

What our clients say about us

Testing was easy to set up and I got the results I needed pretty quickly. The testing administrator was really great and made everything understandable for me. Also they were able to schedule me in when a lot of other practices had long waitlists so that was great too.

Did testing and I learned a lot about myself plus was able to submit it to my school to get accommodations that I really needed to succeed.
